Managed Care Institute Training Courses

Annual members receive a pass for any one-day workshop offered through the Managed Care Institute. You may transfer the pass to a co-worker, or use it as a credit on registration for a multi-day workshop, Master Class or Multi-day retreat. You get one free pass each year when you pay your annual tuition in full. If you decide to cancel your membership and take a refund of the pro-rated amount after having used your free pass, we deduct the value of the pass ($495) from your prorated refund.  If you do not use your free pass in the year in which it is credited to you, you forfeit the pass value in full.

All paid members also receive a 25% discount on our educational course offerings. The discount applies to any purchase for the member only.

 

 

Additional information

Registration for our live events includes the course materials (handouts and supplements) on a USB, hot breakfast each morning, lunch each day, refreshment breaks.  A completion certificate is sent to participants who attend the entire course (no late arrivals or early departures).  Usually, most professional associations and societies accept this certificate and a copy of the course syllabus and learning objectives for continuing professional education credit. Please inquire with your association or society in advance of registration if this is a concern for you.

Advance registrations are available online or by telephone. Payment is by check or credit card, in advance. On rare occasions, we accept walk-on registrations but usually registration is closed the Friday immediately before an event due to strict capacity controls.

Hotel information:

We have reserved a number of rooms at a special  Managed Care Institute rate at the hotels where the seminars are being held. Rooms are available on a first-come, first-served basis until the stated deadline. Reservations must be made by calling the reservations numbers provided and presenting a pre-assigned code or registering via a provided link that will give you the group seminar rate.

Your reservations in the event hotels allow us to provide Managed Care Institute educational programs at the lowest possible costs at the highest convenience for you. Please call the hotel directly and mention The Managed Care Institute or Mercury Advisory Group to ensure your preferred rate. You are responsible for making your own hotel and travel reservations, including changes and cancellations. 

Cancellations

  • If you must cancel 30 days prior to an event, 100% refund will be given or credit towards a future event (your choice). If you cancel 10 days or less before an event, a refund is given, minus a $50 administrative fee.
  • If you start your journey to one of our events and you miss a flight or encounter a mis-connection or flight cancellation, let us know and we'll figure out what to do on a case-by-case basis.
  • Occasionally, it may be necessary to reschedule or cancel sessions. Registrants will receive advanced notice of such changes. If the Managed Care Institute cancels a program, the amount paid to the Institute will be refunded completely. Additionally, The Institute will issue a credit certificate toward any future educational program or products, valid for one year. HFMA cannot be responsible for any penalties incurred as a result of discounted airfare purchases.

On-demand Webinars (Usually free for members; $99 for non-members)

The Managed Care Institute provides webinars available one calendar year following the live webinar date and year. On-demand webinars are not eligible for CPE credit with most associations because they lack the interactive learning that's required for credit.  Most webinars are 60-90 minutes and get down to business in the first 3 minutes of the presentation.

Most on-demand webinars are free for Institute members (M) and $99 for non-members (NM), unless otherwise noted.  Become a member today.

Newcomers to the field and seasoned professionals seeking information on a focused topic that affect their job or for which a new strategy and approach is needed.

Each on demand webinar is designed to give you an array of tools, tips and techniques you can use immediately to learn new skills develop insights, improve job prospects and expand your understanding within the domain area of focus.  The on-demand recording function does include the opportunity to participate in polling sessions, Q&A, etc., but with our instructors, after you have taken the course if you have a question or two, the instructor will accept your question and provide quick general answers via email or by phone (at the instructor's discretion.)  If you decide you would like a more in-depth answer or additional assistance, the instructors are available for private consultation.

Four-day intensive destination learning retreats ($1695)

Each year, the Managed Care Institute offers 4 seasonal learning intensive retreats where participants immerse themselves in professional learning and capacity development for 4 days along with some seasonal destination fun activities. Activities are chosen by their alignment with the destination, the weather and appropriate for almost all ages and abilities. Let us know if you are mobility, hearing or visually impaired so that we can go over details with you so you can better decide if the retreat is right for you, or if we need to explore a reasonable accommodation for you.  We plan retreats so that you won't need to rent a car to get to the venue or to get around from the venue. Each venue has high walkability, local charm and access to all kinds of events for you to go off on your own if you like.  If you plan to rent a car, save money on car rental and parking if you extend your stay.

Retreats are scheduled around the USA and deliver about 6 hours per day of instruction. The rest of the time at the retreat is open for networking, tourism, and other activities in groups or on your own.  Each retreat opens with an arrival reception the evening before so plan to arrive in the afternoon and get settled so you can check in and join the fun. We seek out destinations with a variety of things to do, see and experience without spending a lot of money on pricey hotel rooms and expensive destinations.  Each season brings something different, and a different focus topic for the 4 days of education and training.

2017 Retreats will be scheduled in March, June, September and December. Claim your reservations early because retreats are limited to only 20 registrants.  If you don't have a corporate travel agency where you work, call our corporate travel planners to access any available airfare discounts.

Retreat reservations usually include ground transfers to and from the airport to the hotel or retreat venue. Some of the retreat venues arrange transportation directly. Retreats usually include all day learning and after hours activities with the group. If you plan to bring a companion traveler, we have special activitiy tickets so they can join us for meals and fun when we are not in class.  Usually the hotel charges no more or no less for one person or two people in a room, or for children that may accompany you.

Dress is casual (jeans, tees, sweaters, and so forth).

Sometimes the the Managed Care Institute is a partner and the registrar is another organization separate and distinct.

These courses are usually designed for local participants and focus on local contracted reimbursement and healthcare management issues. Managed care and contracted reimbursement is not a U.S. only phenomenon.  U.S. participants are welcome but will find that the issues addressed in the course are relevant to the local market and not designed to teach U.S. managed care courses at a foreign location.

Advertising on the Managed Care Institute Website

Approved consultants, seminar promoters, other approved partners are eligible to advertise their services in our online marketplace.  Our online marketplace offers visitors a showcase of products and services from people who can help them. Marketplace products and services include books, insurance, products, training, and professional services.  Please don't use the Managed Care Institute's member discussion area or groups to market your services or seminars. Off topic posts or posts that offer little information other than advertising will be removed without warning and poster restricted from future posts without administrator moderation.  We do not follow the mantra of it is better to ask for forgiveness than permission.  Once ejected, there are no second chances and your ad or listing will not be accepted on a paid basis.
